Man crushes: No 1 Georghe Hagi

Seeing Mesut Ozil dismantle England so deliciously yesterday reminded me of one of the first times I felt those confusing stirrings of desire towards another man. His name was Georghe Hagi, and after watching this in 1994, I was smitten.

  1. Hagi is a great shout and of same era, Stoichkov comes close. However for me, you have to take it back to 1982 and the mighty Socrates!

  2. I had similar feelings towards Roberto Baggio post Italia ’90. Up until he quit the game I always hoped that Chelsea might offer him a decent pension in return for a couple of years at the Bridge.

  3. I never quite warmed to Baggio as he was clearly a little too much in love with himself (although he did have one of the best nicknames in football), but was a huge fan of Stoichkov and also Boban of Croatia. This really was a golden era for playmakers.

  4. Multumesc pentru amintirile deosebite cu Hagi; means… thanks for the memorable memories with Hagi (roumanian language)
